At Braddock Family Dental we understand that dental emergencies are distressing and need immediate attention. We are committed to providing prompt, compassionate emergency dental treatment to the residents of Fairfax and the surrounding area. Dr. Cho and our team reserve a block of time every day for emergency appointments, giving us time to prescribe the right medications, take diagnostic X-rays and imaging, and do the right treatments to get you out of pain and back to your life.
Dental emergencies can occur unexpectedly. They include broken teeth/lost fillings, knocked out teeth, severe tooth pain, and swelling, and range from mild discomfort to severe trauma. Knowing what constitutes an emergency dental situation can help you to take immediate action and receive the appropriate care when necessary. Here are some situations that could indicate a dental crisis:
Intense or persistent tooth pain may be an indication of dental trauma, tooth decay, or infection. It is important to seek immediate dental attention if the pain persists and is severe.
In the event that a tooth is completely knocked out of its socket as a result of trauma or injury it's important to seek emergency dental treatment as soon as you can. Rapid action can increase the chance of successfully reattaching a tooth, preserving its appearance and function.
Damages to the tooth structure can cause pain and sensitivity. If there is significant damage to the tooth, such as a cracked tooth or an exposed nerve, it's important to seek immediate dental care. This will prevent further complications, and restore its strength and functionality.
When a crown or filling falls out or becomes loose, it is important to replace it immediately to prevent damage to the tooth and discomfort. The tooth can be exposed to further decay and damage without the protective crown or filling.
If left untreated, dental infections such as abscesses, gum disease or a toothache can cause severe swelling and pain. They may also have systemic effects. You may need to see a dentist immediately if you have symptoms like swelling, fever, or an unpleasant taste or smell in your mouth.
Accidents, falls or sports injuries can cause fractures or dislocations to the jaw, teeth, or mouth. A dentist should evaluate any trauma to the mouth or face that causes severe pain, bleeding, or difficulty speaking or chewing.
Cuts or lacerations to the lips, cheeks, or tongue can occur due to trauma or accident biting. These injuries do not always need emergency dental treatment, but any significant bleeding or deep cuts that interfere with eating, speaking, or oral hygiene must be treated immediately.

It's important to follow these steps if you are experiencing a dental crisis:
Braddock Family Dental is committed to providing compassionate and prompt emergency dental care for our patients in Fairfax and surrounding communities. Don't hesitate to contact us if you are experiencing a dental crisis. We will do our best to restore your smile and address your needs.
When patients are happy, I’m happy. When a person appreciates what my team and I have done, it’s a beautiful moment!
Some people come in with low self-esteem, because they are missing a front tooth or two. That has left them feeling ashamed and as a result they don’t smile and possibly haven’t smiled for a very long time. Restoring those missing teeth, with natural-looking materials, can instill new confidence and boost their self-esteem. They walk out with a smile that’s brimming with joy!
Dentistry, to me, is about helping people change their lives. Whether that’s restoring function, removing pain, or making a smile more attractive, I want each patient to leave the office looking and feeling better than when they arrived.
