CROWNS IN FAIRFAX, VA

A dental crown is like a cap, which covers all of a tooth. Dr. Cho recommends a crown when a tooth has a very large cavity, fracture or crack causing biting pressure pain, and after a root canal is performed in order to protect the tooth from fracturing.

Traditionally, porcelain fused to metal (PFM) has been the crown material of choice. However, in the last ten years, zirconia has become frequently used because of its tensile strength and pleasing natural appearance.

During your crown procedure, Dr. Cho will prepare the broken tooth to make room for the crown. An impression is done, and then sent to the lab. During your second visit to our Fairfax dental office, Dr. Cho will fit and cement your permanent crown to the tooth.
