Braddock Family Dental’s in-house orthodontist, Dr. James, is pleased to offer our patients passive self-ligating Damon Smile braces. From the convenience of our Fairfax dental office, he works together with Dr. Cho on every case to ensure the best aesthetic results, ideal function, and lasting oral health.

How is Damon different?

With traditional brackets and wires, people with severe crowding are often treated by removing two to four permanent teeth. This is done to make space for the crowded teeth to properly align.

Damon Smile uses the self-ligating system, which allows for more powerful movements, and faster and better results. Instead of rubber fixated onto the bracket, the self-ligating braces have the wire inside the bracket slot. The best part? This generally eliminates the need for teeth extractions!

Damon Smile

Damon Smile also offers greater comfort, as the use of gentle, low-friction force means less soreness for you. It is also more convenient, as Damon braces are designed to be easy to keep clean. Without the elastic ties, which attract and collect plaque, Damon braces make dental hygiene easy during treatment.

Your Treatment with Damon Smile

Initial Consult

During your consultation at our Fairfax dental office, Dr. James will review your case and determine your ideal treatment plan. We will also go over financial details, including insurance. Our fees are very competitive. If you find a lower price at a different practice, we will match it!

We will also go over the care of your braces, including home hygiene. We recommend daily brushing, mouthwash, and the use of a water flosser. You should stay away from hard and sticky foods, as they can dislodge the brackets and delay your results.

Office Visits

During your adjustment visits, Dr. James will review your progress and update your treatment plan as needed. During the initial “Detailing Phase,” you will need to visit Braddock Family Dental three to four times, every ten weeks or so, for wire changes. Your second “Fine-Tuning” phase requires three to four visits about four weeks apart so Dr. James can make detailed adjustments to your teeth alignment.
